Derived from the Greek a- (“without”) and nomos (“law”), anomy is not anarchy — anarchy means without rulers. Anomy means without law, in the way nature has laws no one wrote down but everyone learns to live by. An anomos act, then, is simply one that breaks from the normal — and “normal” is defined only by the situation, and the minds of those inside it.
Someone asked me what question is hardest to answer: the meaning of life, or the meaning of death? My anomos reaction to that question was what eventually led to this dossier.
It's a quiet warning before the deep dive: what follows is meant to be read as a whole, questioned as a whole, and never mistaken for a call to conspiracy or revolt.
