Well, Angels and Demons is a novel that uses the mystique that surrounds Illuminati. I've read the book and I liked it as a novel. There is no real relations between Browns Illuminati and the Bavarian Illuminati. Well, except from the fact that Illuminati was up against the church and linked with Freemasonry.
The members of Bavarian Illuminati, I think, was too intellectual to even begin to think of those horrific murders that occured in the novel. My guess is that the aims and methods of the true Bavarian Illuminati was far more sophisticated and non violent. More like a movement promoting certain values which in the long run be good for mankind.
